Bengay Money Maker at Walmart!

A high value Bengay coupon came out today on Coupons.com! You can find this $5/1 coupon under the zip code 90210. Print out as many as you can, because you are going to make some money.

Bengay 2 oz. Tube is priced at $5.48 at Walmart, but price match it to Target for $4.24. Since Walmart allows you to apply your overage to the rest of your transaction or simply give you the cash overage, it is best to take advantage of this deal at Walmart rather than Target and earn $.76 for each tube you buy.

I have 3 computers in my house, so I printed two copies from each and headed to Walmart. They only have 5 of the 2 oz. tubes in stock, so I grabbed those. I was going to have about $3.80 in overage before tax, so I grabbed two packs of Dixon 24 count pencils for $.94 and checked out. My subtotal before tax was -$1.92, and after tax my total was -$.30. This means that, yes, Walmart paid me 30 cents for my purchase of 5 tubes of Bengay and two packs of pencils, with a retail value of $29.28. This is a savings of.... 101%. WOW!

Free Carefree and More at Walgreens

I don't plan on doing much couponing this week, but I did make a quick run to Walgreens to pick up a couple deals. I was disappointed, because my local ad was very different from the deals I had found online, so I didn't get many of the ones I had hoped for. I still got a few things, however. Here are the deals I did:

Mitchum Women's or Mens: 2 for $6, receive $4 Register Rewards
Final price: $1 each wyb two

Carefree Liners 20-22 count: $1.49
Use $3/2 in the July Walgreen's coupon booklet
Final Price: FREE

Papermate Pencils: $.19

Splash Mini Highlighter: $.09

Dawn Dish Soap: $.99 with in-ad coupon
Use $.25/1 from Organize in Style coupon mailer
Final price: $.74

Purex Detergent: 2 for $5 or $2.99 each
Note: you HAVE to buy two in order to get them for $2.50 each. I didn't realize this, but I was using it as a filler for my Register Rewards anyways, so I went ahead and got it)

I broke these into two transactions, the deodorant in the first, and everything else in the second. I paid a total of $9.05. Before coupons or sales, the total would have been $26.95, making this a 66% savings. Not the best, but not terrible either.

School Stock-Up at Drug Stores: Week of 7/17 Prices from $.09!

Yes, the new school year is over a month away, but this is the prime time to stock up! Don't put it off to the last minute. Stock up over the next few weeks with rock bottom prices! CVS and Walgreens continuously have some of the best stock up prices and here are this week's.

There was a $.75/2 M&M's coupon in the 7/10 Red Plum. The size restriction does not exclude the normal, single-serve bags. Making Store Reward Programs Work For You

I refer to the rewards programs from CVS and Walgreens quite a bit in my posts, and I just want to make sure everyone understands how they work and how you can use them to your best advantage. Drugstores are the best places to find extremely free or cheap items, as you can pair coupons, sales, and rewards all together for a fabulous bargain. Trust me when I say, you will almost always get something for free each and every week. Feel free to comment with any questions or confusion you may have.

At CVS, the rewards program is linked with your Extra Care Card. You can get an Extra Care Card at
any CVS register and use it immediately. Your Extra Care Card allows you to get sale prices, as well as receive Extra Care Bucks.

Extra Care Bucks are essentially a money-back program that is linked with the purchase of certain products. For example, there is a deal where, when you buy 5 bottles of Vitamin Water, you get 2 Extra Care Bucks. You pay for all the bottles out of pocket, and then your Extra Care Bucks will print. You can use them immediately on your next transaction. Extra Care Bucks expire one month from when you receive them.

Another way to use your card is by scanning it at the red coupon machine found near the front of CVS stores. Many times you will get coupons for items, free items, and even Extra Care Bucks at the end of each quarter. You will want to scan your card once a week, as the coupons will change each sale cycle. For example, last week the coupon was for a free candy bar and this week it is for $3 off a $10 purchase of pain relievers. You never know what will print out! Expiration dates will vary, so make sure you check them.

Walgreens' rewards program is not linked with a card, so this makes it a little bit for flexible, as their limits are easily surpassed. The program is Register Rewards and these are very much like Extra Care Bucks in the fact that they are a money-back program that prints at the register after a transaction.

Walgreens will advertise limits on the number of products you buy, but there is a way around it. Since your purchases are not linked to a card, all you have to do is not use the Register Rewards when purchasing an identical item, and the computer will print them. For example, if toothbrushes are $3 and you get $2 Register Rewards, DO NOT use the Register Rewards to buy more toothbrushes, because the computer will recognize that they are from the same deal and will not print any more. Instead, try to stagger Register Reward deals, so you can spend little out of pocket, but still receiving all the Register Rewards. Here's an example that I did today, that shows how staggering works:

Transaction 1
W Razor $3.99, $3.99 Register Rewards (RR)
Pay $3.99 out of pocket (OOP) , Receive $3.99 RR

Transaction 2
GUM Floss $2, $2 RR
Clorox Cleaner $2.79, $1 RR
$4.79-3.99 RR = Pay $.80 OOP, Receive $3 RR

Transaction 3
W Razor $3.99, $3.99 RR
Filler* - Candy $.49
$4.48-$3 RR = Pay $1.48 OOP, Receive $3.99 RR

Transaction 4
GUM Floss, $2, $2 RR
Fillers* totaling $1.99
$3.99-$3.99 RR= Pay nothing, Receive $2 RR

*Fillers are necessary for two reasons.
One, each Register Rewards counts as a coupon, and there must be the same number of items as coupons. So looking at transaction 3, you are using two different Register Rewards, the $2 floss RR and the $1 Clorox RR, so you must have 2 items.
Two, the before tax total MUST be equal to or more than the Register Rewards.

A last tip for Walgreens: you can stack coupons! You can use one manufacturer coupons along with Walgreens' coupons together on a single item. Just remember, you have to use fillers to make sure you have the same amount of items as coupons. Here's an example of stacking:

Tylenol Precise $7.99
Use $5/1 manufacturer coupon and $3/1 Walgreens coupon to make the item free!

Why I Love Target

I love Target. It is, by far, my favorite store. And this is why.

For $12 I got:
-1 bottle of Suave lotion (reg. price $2.89, I paid $0)
-4 bottles of Suave shampoo (reg. price $.84 each, I paid $.09 each)
-4 bottles of Suave conditioner (reg. price $.84 each, I paid $.09 each)
-3 packs of Papermate pens (reg. price $1.02 each, I paid $.02 each)
-1 large over-the-head shower caddy (reg. price $13.99, I paid $3.99)
-2 Schick Hyrdro Razors (reg. price $6.49 each, I paid $.98 for both)
-1 Sally Hansen Nail polish (reg. price $2.49, I paid $.49)
-1 Sally Hansen Nail Grow treatment (reg. price $4.49, I paid $2.49)

How did I get these savings? Well, by combining coupons, sales, and promotions.

Schich Hyrdo 5 Razors:
When you buy 2 at $6.49 each, you receive a $5 gift card. Use either two $4/1 Schick Hydro coupons from the June P&G insert, or two $3/1 Schick Hyrdro printables. If you use the $4 coupons the razors will be free after the gift card, if you use the $3 coupons you will paid $1.96 after gift card. I used one of each and paid $.98 for them both!

Suave Lotion
I registered for a free bottle through Facebook about a month ago. The promotion went quickly. The coupon came in the mail.

Suave Shampoo and Conditioner
Last week Target had a printable coupon for $.75/1 any Suave haircare. Since the small bottles are only $.84, I paid $.09 each. Unfortunately, this coupon went super fast, and is no longer available.

Papermate Pens
The 10 pack of Papermate Crystal pens are only $1.02, and since the coupon says any Papermate writing utensil, you can score each pack for only $.02! The printable coupon is here under stationary.

Shower Caddy
About 3 weeks ago, Target had a coupon for $10 off any bathroom furnishing. It is now no longer available, but if you printed it, you are very lucky! This is a high value coupon, and you can even end up with a free item if you pick one of the smaller items. I chose a bronze-finished shower caddy that hangs over the shower head. We have been looking for one for the apartment, so this was the perfect opportunity to get one very cheap. It was priced at $13.99, but after the coupon, it only cost $3.99. There are smaller caddies that are only $9.99, and those would be free after the coupon.

Sally Hansen Products
At Target, you can use one manufacturer's coupon and one Target coupon per item. I used a $1/1 manufacturer Sally Hansen nail color (no longer available, it appears) and a $1/1 Sally Hansen product Target coupon (no longer available) for the nail polish. I also used a $2/1 Sally Hansel nail treatment w/ color purchase for the nail growth treatment, which can be found here under personal care.

Hair Supply Stock-Up

I have taken advantage of this weeks deals to stock up on hair supplies. The first deal can be found at CVS.

Head and Shoulders shampoos and conditioners are on sale for $4.99 and  you receive $2 in Extra Care Bucks when you buy one. (limit one per card) There is a Buy One Get One Free Head and Shoulders coupon in the Proctor and Gamble insert in today's Sunday paper. That means you get two bottles of Head and Shoulders for $2.99, a VERY good price for Head and Shoulders. Since this is the shampoo my boyfriend uses, I used two separate CVS cards to buy four bottles, enough to last a few months at least.

There is also a great Herbal Essences/Aussie deal at Walgreens! I went with Herbal Essences, but Aussie works the exact same way. In today's Proctor and Gamble insert, there is a $3 off one Herbal Essences or Aussie styler when you buy another Herbal/Aussie product. Luckily, Aussie and Herbal Essences shampoos, conditioners, and styling products are on sale for $3, making the stylers FREE! If you have the $1/1 Herbal or Aussie coupons from last month, pair them with the styler coupons for an even better deal. Unfortunately I only had one of those, so I paid $5 plus tax out of pocket for 2 bottles of 2 in 1 shampoo and 2 cans of hair spray, making each $1.25 apiece.
