Bengay Money Maker at Walmart!

A high value Bengay coupon came out today on Coupons.com! You can find this $5/1 coupon under the zip code 90210. Print out as many as you can, because you are going to make some money.

Bengay 2 oz. Tube is priced at $5.48 at Walmart, but price match it to Target for $4.24. Since Walmart allows you to apply your overage to the rest of your transaction or simply give you the cash overage, it is best to take advantage of this deal at Walmart rather than Target and earn $.76 for each tube you buy.

I have 3 computers in my house, so I printed two copies from each and headed to Walmart. They only have 5 of the 2 oz. tubes in stock, so I grabbed those. I was going to have about $3.80 in overage before tax, so I grabbed two packs of Dixon 24 count pencils for $.94 and checked out. My subtotal before tax was -$1.92, and after tax my total was -$.30. This means that, yes, Walmart paid me 30 cents for my purchase of 5 tubes of Bengay and two packs of pencils, with a retail value of $29.28. This is a savings of.... 101%. WOW!

Free Carefree and More at Walgreens

I don't plan on doing much couponing this week, but I did make a quick run to Walgreens to pick up a couple deals. I was disappointed, because my local ad was very different from the deals I had found online, so I didn't get many of the ones I had hoped for. I still got a few things, however. Here are the deals I did:

Mitchum Women's or Mens: 2 for $6, receive $4 Register Rewards
Final price: $1 each wyb two

Carefree Liners 20-22 count: $1.49
Use $3/2 in the July Walgreen's coupon booklet
Final Price: FREE

Papermate Pencils: $.19

Splash Mini Highlighter: $.09

Dawn Dish Soap: $.99 with in-ad coupon
Use $.25/1 from Organize in Style coupon mailer
Final price: $.74

Purex Detergent: 2 for $5 or $2.99 each
Note: you HAVE to buy two in order to get them for $2.50 each. I didn't realize this, but I was using it as a filler for my Register Rewards anyways, so I went ahead and got it)

I broke these into two transactions, the deodorant in the first, and everything else in the second. I paid a total of $9.05. Before coupons or sales, the total would have been $26.95, making this a 66% savings. Not the best, but not terrible either.

School Stock-Up at Drug Stores: Week of 7/17 Prices from $.09!

Yes, the new school year is over a month away, but this is the prime time to stock up! Don't put it off to the last minute. Stock up over the next few weeks with rock bottom prices! CVS and Walgreens continuously have some of the best stock up prices and here are this week's.

$.13 M&M's at Wal-Mart

There was a $.75/2 M&M's coupon in the 7/10 Red Plum. The size restriction does not exclude the normal, single-serve bags. Making Store Reward Programs Work For You

I refer to the rewards programs from CVS and Walgreens quite a bit in my posts, and I just want to make sure everyone understands how they work and how you can use them to your best advantage. Drugstores are the best places to find extremely free or cheap items, as you can pair coupons, sales, and rewards all together for a fabulous bargain. Trust me when I say, you will almost always get something for free each and every week. Feel free to comment with any questions or confusion you may have.

At CVS, the rewards program is linked with your Extra Care Card. You can get an Extra Care Card at
any CVS register and use it immediately. Your Extra Care Card allows you to get sale prices, as well as receive Extra Care Bucks.

Extra Care Bucks are essentially a money-back program that is linked with the purchase of certain products. For example, there is a deal where, when you buy 5 bottles of Vitamin Water, you get 2 Extra Care Bucks. You pay for all the bottles out of pocket, and then your Extra Care Bucks will print. You can use them immediately on your next transaction. Extra Care Bucks expire one month from when you receive them.

Another way to use your card is by scanning it at the red coupon machine found near the front of CVS stores. Many times you will get coupons for items, free items, and even Extra Care Bucks at the end of each quarter. You will want to scan your card once a week, as the coupons will change each sale cycle. For example, last week the coupon was for a free candy bar and this week it is for $3 off a $10 purchase of pain relievers. You never know what will print out! Expiration dates will vary, so make sure you check them.

Walgreens' rewards program is not linked with a card, so this makes it a little bit for flexible, as their limits are easily surpassed. The program is Register Rewards and these are very much like Extra Care Bucks in the fact that they are a money-back program that prints at the register after a transaction.

Walgreens will advertise limits on the number of products you buy, but there is a way around it. Since your purchases are not linked to a card, all you have to do is not use the Register Rewards when purchasing an identical item, and the computer will print them. For example, if toothbrushes are $3 and you get $2 Register Rewards, DO NOT use the Register Rewards to buy more toothbrushes, because the computer will recognize that they are from the same deal and will not print any more. Instead, try to stagger Register Reward deals, so you can spend little out of pocket, but still receiving all the Register Rewards. Here's an example that I did today, that shows how staggering works:

Transaction 1
W Razor $3.99, $3.99 Register Rewards (RR)
Pay $3.99 out of pocket (OOP) , Receive $3.99 RR

Transaction 2
GUM Floss $2, $2 RR
Clorox Cleaner $2.79, $1 RR
$4.79-3.99 RR = Pay $.80 OOP, Receive $3 RR

Transaction 3
W Razor $3.99, $3.99 RR
Filler* - Candy $.49
$4.48-$3 RR = Pay $1.48 OOP, Receive $3.99 RR

Transaction 4
GUM Floss, $2, $2 RR
Fillers* totaling $1.99
$3.99-$3.99 RR= Pay nothing, Receive $2 RR

*Fillers are necessary for two reasons.
One, each Register Rewards counts as a coupon, and there must be the same number of items as coupons. So looking at transaction 3, you are using two different Register Rewards, the $2 floss RR and the $1 Clorox RR, so you must have 2 items.
Two, the before tax total MUST be equal to or more than the Register Rewards.

A last tip for Walgreens: you can stack coupons! You can use one manufacturer coupons along with Walgreens' coupons together on a single item. Just remember, you have to use fillers to make sure you have the same amount of items as coupons. Here's an example of stacking:

Tylenol Precise $7.99
Use $5/1 manufacturer coupon and $3/1 Walgreens coupon to make the item free!

Why I Love Target

I love Target. It is, by far, my favorite store. And this is why.

For $12 I got:
-1 bottle of Suave lotion (reg. price $2.89, I paid $0)
-4 bottles of Suave shampoo (reg. price $.84 each, I paid $.09 each)
-4 bottles of Suave conditioner (reg. price $.84 each, I paid $.09 each)
-3 packs of Papermate pens (reg. price $1.02 each, I paid $.02 each)
-1 large over-the-head shower caddy (reg. price $13.99, I paid $3.99)
-2 Schick Hyrdro Razors (reg. price $6.49 each, I paid $.98 for both)
-1 Sally Hansen Nail polish (reg. price $2.49, I paid $.49)
-1 Sally Hansen Nail Grow treatment (reg. price $4.49, I paid $2.49)

How did I get these savings? Well, by combining coupons, sales, and promotions.

Schich Hyrdo 5 Razors:
When you buy 2 at $6.49 each, you receive a $5 gift card. Use either two $4/1 Schick Hydro coupons from the June P&G insert, or two $3/1 Schick Hyrdro printables. If you use the $4 coupons the razors will be free after the gift card, if you use the $3 coupons you will paid $1.96 after gift card. I used one of each and paid $.98 for them both!

Suave Lotion
I registered for a free bottle through Facebook about a month ago. The promotion went quickly. The coupon came in the mail.

Suave Shampoo and Conditioner
Last week Target had a printable coupon for $.75/1 any Suave haircare. Since the small bottles are only $.84, I paid $.09 each. Unfortunately, this coupon went super fast, and is no longer available.

Papermate Pens
The 10 pack of Papermate Crystal pens are only $1.02, and since the coupon says any Papermate writing utensil, you can score each pack for only $.02! The printable coupon is here under stationary.

Shower Caddy
About 3 weeks ago, Target had a coupon for $10 off any bathroom furnishing. It is now no longer available, but if you printed it, you are very lucky! This is a high value coupon, and you can even end up with a free item if you pick one of the smaller items. I chose a bronze-finished shower caddy that hangs over the shower head. We have been looking for one for the apartment, so this was the perfect opportunity to get one very cheap. It was priced at $13.99, but after the coupon, it only cost $3.99. There are smaller caddies that are only $9.99, and those would be free after the coupon.

Sally Hansen Products
At Target, you can use one manufacturer's coupon and one Target coupon per item. I used a $1/1 manufacturer Sally Hansen nail color (no longer available, it appears) and a $1/1 Sally Hansen product Target coupon (no longer available) for the nail polish. I also used a $2/1 Sally Hansel nail treatment w/ color purchase for the nail growth treatment, which can be found here under personal care.

Hair Supply Stock-Up

I have taken advantage of this weeks deals to stock up on hair supplies. The first deal can be found at CVS.

Head and Shoulders shampoos and conditioners are on sale for $4.99 and  you receive $2 in Extra Care Bucks when you buy one. (limit one per card) There is a Buy One Get One Free Head and Shoulders coupon in the Proctor and Gamble insert in today's Sunday paper. That means you get two bottles of Head and Shoulders for $2.99, a VERY good price for Head and Shoulders. Since this is the shampoo my boyfriend uses, I used two separate CVS cards to buy four bottles, enough to last a few months at least.

There is also a great Herbal Essences/Aussie deal at Walgreens! I went with Herbal Essences, but Aussie works the exact same way. In today's Proctor and Gamble insert, there is a $3 off one Herbal Essences or Aussie styler when you buy another Herbal/Aussie product. Luckily, Aussie and Herbal Essences shampoos, conditioners, and styling products are on sale for $3, making the stylers FREE! If you have the $1/1 Herbal or Aussie coupons from last month, pair them with the styler coupons for an even better deal. Unfortunately I only had one of those, so I paid $5 plus tax out of pocket for 2 bottles of 2 in 1 shampoo and 2 cans of hair spray, making each $1.25 apiece.

Tiny Prints is offering a free card for Independence Day. Choose between Forever Flag or American Heroes. Just enter the promo code TROOPS to get the card and shipping for free! You can also mail it to someone else for just $.44, the cost of a stamp! This is a great treat for a veteran or service member in your life.

I have ordered from Tiny Prints before, and they are great quality cards. They are made of thick card stock, and are seamless in printing. I got my dad a Father's Day card from them, and it was great! Take advantage of this deal while it's hot!

Better Than Free Honest Tea at CVS

If you are a member of Recycle Bank (and I hope you are!) then you can print off coupons for $1/1 Honest Tea. Honest Tea is on sale 5 for $5 this week, and you receive 2 Extra Care Bucks when you buy five, making this a $2 money maker at CVS! They are going to go fast, so get a rain check if your store is all out! CVS honors all sales and ECB deals if you have a rain check slip, and they don't expire!

CVS: Shopping on Pocket Change

There is nothing I love more than getting great products for rock bottom prices. Except when I am paid to take things from the store, and that is precisely what this deal at CVS does!
If you remember, a couple weeks ago I grabbed some drink coupons from a pad at a gas station. One of those was $.75 off any Smart Water. Luckily I grabbed quite a few, and that is how I made this deal work! Smart Water is one sale 5 for $5 this week at CVS, and when you buy 5 you get 2 Extra Care Bucks. I used 5 of the coupons, paid $1.25 out of pocket, and got 2 ECBs, making this a $.75 money maker!

Another small money-maker is Colgate Total toothpaste. There is a $1 off coupon from May that you can use. They are on sale for $2.79, and you get 2 ECBs. When you use the coupon, you make around $.01 after tax, but still, it is a great deal! Remember, NEVER pay for toothpaste or toothbrushes, you should ALWAYS be able to get them for free!

A final great deal that I took advantage of today was Kashi Go Lean cereal. I love it, but it is rather expensive, around $4 per box! I managed to get two boxes for $.50 each today, and this is how! First things first, you will need two $2/1 Kashi coupons. You can get these from Recycle Bank, a site dedicated to green living. The cereal is on sale at CVS 2 for $6 with 1 ECB printing when you buy two. Use both the coupons, pay $2 out of pocket, at get 1 ECB, making them $.50 each!

I did three separate transactions, paid a total of $4.24 out of pocket, and walked away with 4 ECBs, meaning I got 5 bottles of water, 2 boxes of cereal, and toothpaste for only $.24!

Free G Series at Walgreens

I know that my boyfriend has been dying to try the whole G Gatorade series, but they are usually so expensive ($2-3) that I just don't see the point. However, there is a great deal this week at Walgreens when you buy all three! Here's how it works:

Buy all three:
Gatorade Prime $1.50
Gatorade Perform $1
Gatorade Recovery $2.50
for a out of pocket total of $5 plus tax

At the register, a mail-in rebate for $5 will print, making them FREE except tax! I can't wait to take advantage of this great deal!

NoMoreRack.com

I am always skeptical of those "deal" sites that have items priced way lower than their retail price, but NoMoreRack.com is the real deal. They offer 8 different deals every single day, from clothes, to cosmetics, jewelery, to toys. Usually up to 90% off. And yes, it IS legitimate.

The best part is, when you sign up, you get a $10 account credit. They have SO MANY deals under $10, and many $10-20. With that credit, you can make a sweet deal even sweeter. Sign up today, check out the deals, and check back every day for what's new.

Let me know what deals you find!

Household Stockup: Toilet Paper

Toilet paper is something you NEVER want to run out of, so stock up while it's cheap. A good price point to stock up on is around $.25/roll, and that is just the deal that you can grab this week at Staples.

Staples has a 12 pack of Quilted Northern double rolls priced at $5.99. You can print out a coupon from Staples, for $3 off any purchase. So you'll be getting 12 rolls for $2.99! I am definitely planning on heading there tomorrow to stock up.

Don't Toss Expired Coupons, Send Them to the Troops!

Did you know that families on military bases can use manufacturer coupons up to two months expired? While they are of no value to you, they have great value to these service members, who live on a limited budget, often with a family. I have pledged to donate my expired coupons to the troops, will you?

The Overseas Coupon Program is a not-for-profit charity that helps these bases get linked with donors. Just go to the website, go to the base list and find one that is looking to be adopted, then fill out the adoption form. There is also a FAQ about adoption, mailing, and any other questions that may arise. Every little bit helps. How better to support the troops and show your patriotism?

Walmart Deals

Snuggle Fabric Softener 40 count Sheets $1.87
$1/1 Coupon (limit 2)
Final Price:  $.87 or about $.02 per dryer sheet!

Nivea Body Wash $3.88 (Use Price Match with Target to get them for $3.04)
Use 2 $2/1 Nivea Men's Body Wash from 6/5/11 newspaper
Also use Buy two Get one free coupon from June All You magazine (available at Walmart for about $2)
The final price will be about $2.00 for all 3.

Unfortunately, my cashier did not understand the deal or the coupons and didn't let me do the Nivea deal. That is why I hate Walmart, but that's another story... I ended up going to CVS, where the clerks are always nice, and, even though their price was $4.88, with the coupons and my Extra Care Bucks, it came out cheaper than Walmart. I got 2 mens, and 1 women's.

Now, a note about  All You magazine. It is only available at Walmart, and is basically a magazine about saving money and living frugal. It has recipes, house keeping tips, and other family friendly topics. The best part about it is the coupons! It ALWAYS pays for itself. This month, it has over $90 in coupons, and this is typical. Just by using the Nivea coupon, it paid for itself twice! Buy it the next time you're at Walmart!

BIG SAVINGS at Walgreens and CVS

I had some major savings at Walgreens and CVS today. Most of my stuff came from CVS, as they have some great Extra Care Buck deals this week. The ones I took advantage of were:

-Crest Pro Health Mouth Wash 1 L $4.50 each
           -Receive $2.50 ECB
-$2/1 Crest Pro Health Mouth Wash coupon from the 6/5/11 newspaper
           -Limit of 2 per card
           -Final price: FREE (before tax)
-Colgate MaxClean or MaxFresh Smartfoam Toothpaste $2.79 each
           -Receive $2 ECB
-$.75/1 Colgate toothpaste coupon from 6/5/11 newspaper
           -Limit of 2 per card
           -Final price: $.04 (before tax)
-Oral-B Pulsar Toothbrush $6.00 each
           -Receive $3 ECB
-$3/1 Oral B adult or child battery operate toothbrush from 6/5/11 newspaper
           -Limit 2 per card
           -Final Price: FREE (before tax)
-Colgate 360 Surround Toothbrush $2.79
           -Receive $2 ECB
-Use $.75/1 Colgate Manual Toothbrush from 6/5/11 newspaper
           -Limit 2 per card
           -Final Price: $.04 (before tax)

This is a great example of how you can pair coupons and store rewards for maximum savings. Some other coupon matchups that I took advantage of are:

Gillette Body Wash, on sale for $3.99 each
-I used a BOGO coupon and a $2/1 coupon from a couple weeks ago to get both for only $2 before tax.

Febreze Air Effects, on sale for $3.00
-I used a $1/1 coupon from a P&G coupon book (I don't remember where I got it)

I had 2 $1/1 Sally Hansen nail treatments in my binder that were about to expire and was able to grab two nail polishes that were on clearance for 75% off. This made them only $1-2 each, and they were originally $7-10!

I also grabbed the Revlon powder I talked about last week and of course, a pack of gum.

Total value before ECB and coupons was $63.21. I paid a little over $19 and have a $4 ECB for next time, making my total price only $15. I saved over 75%!

Walgreens was a simple trip. In this Sunday's paper, there were more of those $4/1 ProGlide razor coupons. I got 3 papers so I had three coupons, and luckily the promotion was still going on, so I picked up all 3. Now, a tip if you're going to do this: DO NOT use the register rewards from the previous razor to pay for the next, because the RR for the second will not printer. The computer is designed to prevent "double dipping". So you will have to pay out of pocket for them and use the RR for something else or save them for next week.

The total price of all my purchases today before coupons, RR, or ECB was $84.37. My total, when considering what store rewards I have more next week, is right around $18. A total savings of 79%!

Summer Stock Up: Gatorade

It's time for a summer stock up!

At Marsh Supermarkets this week they are having a Mega Sale; when you buy 10 participating items you receive a $5 instant savings and a $5 Catalina (printable dollars-off coupon) off your next purchase. Gatorade Thirst Quenchers 32 oz. are part of this sale. Their price is $1.09 each. With the instant savings and Catalinas, they will cost $.09 each!

Here is my suggestion. Buy in quantities in ten and do a separate transaction for each set of 10. The first will cost $5.90. For the following transactions, use the Catalina from the previous transaction. The transaction after the first will cost $.90.

I just pre ordered 100 bottles from my local store and plan to pick them up in the morning. I will write a blog when I have completed the transaction. I suggest that if you plan to order more than 10 or 20, call ahead so they can set them aside for you! My only worry is that the Catalinas will have a restriction that they cannot be used the same day; in that case I will not be buying many, as I do not want to pay $59.00 out of pocket. I will let you know how it goes!

My Gatorade haul!

UPDATE:
When I arrived at Marsh, they had my 100 bottles in the flavors I choose already set aside and ready for me. I had called ahead to double check about the Catalina, and while the manager had told me on the phone that it would be fine, it was in fact a promotion for the following week. (meaning, the $5 catalinas wouldn't be good until June 9th). The manager, however, said he thinks it would still work and took me to the customer service desk to check out, so as not to hold up the registers. Like I planned, we did 10 transactions of 10 bottles. Tax was applied before any discounts, so $.08 was added to the price of each bottle, bringing them up to almost $.17 a bottle. This is still a great deal though!

The first transaction cost $6.66. The other nine cost $1.66, because the catalinas did indeed ring up. I paid $21.60 out of pocket today, and have a $5 catalina for next time, bringing the total cost of the 100 Gatorades to $16.60! My total savings on this trip was $125. This was my biggest haul thus far, and the trunk was packed! I am very happy with this purchase. I hope you take advantage of this great sale! Stock up while it's at a rock bottom price!

Coupon Tips of the Week

A lot of you have been asking for coupon tips, so here is one for you: Always be on your toes and think ahead! Be aware of all the places you can find coupons and don't downplay ones that do not seem like a good deal, or are for something you don't use. You never know when that item might go on sale. For example, today at the gas station, there were coupon pads on the doors of the pop coolers. They instantly caught my eye because they were for Vitamin Water and Smart Water. They were for $.55 and $.75 respectively. At the gas station they were rather expensive, but having experience with sales, I know that these items go on sale for $1 frequently. I also know that Kroger and other stores will double up to a $1. So when this happens they will be FREE! So I put them in my pocket to save for when that time comes.

Another tip to keep in mind is don't just clip or collect coupons for things you need. Save them all! You can't predict the sales that will occur, and wouldn't it be a shame to lose out on a great deal because you tossed the coupons?!

My final tip this week is ORGANIZATION! I started out with an 8-pocket accordion binder, but my coupon collection go so large that my coupons became unruly and I had to pull out large stacks and sort through them at the store, causing me to drop them, get in other peoples way, and just lose precious time. I now use baseball card organizers in a binder, with dividers marking what category they belong to.

What tips do you want next week? Leave a comment and I will address it in an upcoming post!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Revlon Press Powder for $.49 or possibly FREE

CVS has Revlon ColorStay Pressed Powder for $10.49 this week. At the register when you purchase ANYTHING this week, a $6/1 Revlon Product coupon will print. Also, when you buy $10+ of Revlon products you get $4 Extra Care Bucks. This makes the powder only $.49 before tax!

My suggestion, buy a pack of gum, something else cheap, or even the $2/1 Mars candy bars (and get $1 ECB) in order to receive your coupon. Next, buy your powder with your coupon ( and that ECB from the candy bars if you decided to buy them). You will pay around $4-5 out of pocket and the $4 ECB will print! Even if you don't get the $1 ECB from the candy bars, this is still a great deal!

Fusion ProGlide Smooth Comfort Kit: for $1.58, Free Icy Hot, and More!

Walgreens is having a sale on all their Fusion ProGlide razors. The manual, power, and power smooth comfort set are all selling for $9.89 this week. The Smooth Comfort Kit is obviously the best value, as it comes with the power razor, one cartridge, battery, travel-size shave gel, travel-sized facial scrub, and travel-sized facial lotion. In itself, this is a great gift for a man in your life, Father's Day is right around the corner!

The deal gets even sweeter though. When you purchase it, a $5 Register Reward will print out, good on your next purchase. That's like getting it for only $4.89. And if you were lucky enough to clip and save the $4/1 ProGlide coupon from May's Procter and Gamble insert, you will get it for only $1.58 after tax and RR! What a steal!
Also, Walgreens has other great deals this week that I took advantage of. Their Icy Hot Naturals .5 oz is on sale for $.99 and $.99 Register Rewards will print, making it free! Puffs tissues and Walgreen's brand storage bags are both on sale for $.99 as well. I used the $5 RR from the razor to get two boxes of tissues, and quart, gallon, and sandwich storage bags. I also bought two of the Icy Hot's and got 2 candy bars and a pack of gum with the RR's from those.

Free Candy Bars!

Head out to CVS this week to take advantage of a fabulous sale. Mars Candy Bars are on sale 2 for $1, and you get $1 Extra Value Buck after you purchase them, making both of them free! You can use that $1 immediately to get something else in the store. I grabbed 2 more of the on sale candy bars. (Just a side note, the ECB will only print once, so you can't keep buying the candy for free, it's only a one time thing)
